Dr. Gemma Coronel is a Licensed Naturopathic Physician. She graduated from the naturopathic doctorate program at the National University of Natural Medicine in Portland, OR. Her first introduction to naturopathic medicine was during her undergraduate program where she obtained a B.S. in Human Biology at the University of California Santa Cruz. Her experience impressed upon her the need for diversity in the medical field; thus was born her dream to pursue naturopathic medicine.
As finishing her doctoral degree, she completed a primary care residency at NUNM with rotations in hydrotherapy, IV therapy, substance recovery, under-resourced communities, mental health, and women’s health. Additionally, her clinical interests include pain management, herbal medicine, nutrition, mood support and hormone balancing.
As a second-generation Latina, she thrives when working with diverse patients from all socio-economic backgrounds. Her approach is patient-centered and culturally sensitive, with a trauma-informed lens, that aims to respect patients’ social backgrounds and individual strengths to help them achieve their health goals. She values the ability to spend more time with patients to gather a holistic history, co-create a treatment plan with the patient, build sense of community, and lean into traditional health practices from various cultures.
When she is not working, Gemma enjoys going for walks in nature, crafting with a warm beverage by her side, and cooking/baking for friends and family.
